PIGMENT FLOW – South Iceland
Aerial views of a glacial river moving through black volcanic sand on the South Coast of Iceland. Mineral-rich sediment, carried by meltwater and influenced by geothermal activity, creates glowing yellow, green, and blue tones that seem almost painted into the landscape. From above, the river becomes less a body of water than a shifting field of color and texture.
What fascinated me most was the contrast between the dark volcanic ground and these luminous mineral traces. Soft gradients, fluid edges, and fine surface patterns turn the river into an abstract composition shaped by flow, sediment, light, and time.
